Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
This policy explains what information NYE Media collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain because most of the people who use this site are students.
Who we are
NYE Media is a youth entrepreneurship community based in Massachusetts, United States. We connect high school builders with founders, mentors, judges, and companies through challenges, mentorship, and events. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" mean NYE Media, and "you" means anyone who visits our site at nyemedia.org or contacts us.
Questions about this policy or your information can be sent to nyemedia.team@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
When you fill out a form or email us, we collect what you choose to share, which may include:
- Join the community form: your name, email address, school, expected graduation year, and a short description of what you're building.
- Partner form: your name, email address, company or organization, role, and how you'd like to get involved.
- Event and challenge sign-ups: registration details you submit through our sign-up form, which is hosted by Tally.
- Emails and messages: anything you send us directly, including your contact details and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our hosting and security providers automatically receive limited technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and the pages you view. This is standard for websites and is used to serve the site, keep it secure, and understand general usage. We use hCaptcha to tell real visitors from automated bots when you submit a form; hCaptcha may process technical and interaction data to do this.
How we use your information
- To respond to your messages and requests.
- To run our community, events, challenges, and mentorship programs, and to follow up with you about them.
- To send you updates you asked for (for example, event details after you sign up). You can opt out at any time by emailing us.
- To operate, secure, and improve the website.
- To comply with the law and protect the safety and rights of our community.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
How we share your information
We share information only where it's needed to run the site and our programs. This includes trusted service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Web3Forms — delivers our contact form submissions to our team inbox. See web3forms.com/privacy-policy.
- Tally — hosts our event and challenge sign-up form. See tally.so/help/privacy-policy.
- hCaptcha — protects our forms from spam and abuse. See hcaptcha.com/privacy.
- Vercel — hosts and delivers the website. See vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or if we believe in good faith that it's necessary to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.
Students and minors
Our community is built for high school students, and some of the people who reach out to us are under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 18, we encourage you to involve a parent or guardian before sharing your information with us.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us at nyemedia.team@gmail.com and we will review it and delete it on request.
Your choices and rights
You can, at any time:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete your information.
- Ask us to stop sending you updates.
To make any of these requests, email nyemedia.team@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local privacy laws; we'll honor those rights where they apply.
Data retention
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, and then delete it. If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so unless we're required to keep it by law.
How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, consistent with applicable Massachusetts and U.S. data-protection standards. No website or method of transmission is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your information safe.
Links to other sites
Our site and communications may link to other websites (for example, our sign-up form or a partner's site). We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as NYE Media grows or as our tools change. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes may be announced on the site.
